Acrylic on canvas

A very strange piece for several reasons:

1.) It's got an overall "darker" feeling than most of my stuff

2.) I used no collage elements at all; a collage layer is normally a staple of my work

3.) It started out as my attempt to copy the pattern of a necktie. Then I just kept layering over and over it. With every layer I was convinced it was either done, or I needed to kill it and start over.

4.) Originally I had painted the phrase "Back in Whale Harbor, Missouri" on it, in the corner. There is no Whale Harbor, MO and I have no idea how that name occurred to me. Except except that it's one of those weird phrases that pops into ones head while absorbed in painting or doing anything absorbing.
