Boticelli carries most of the weight here but, as they say...we stand on the shoulders of giants. That's his famous painting "Portrait of a Young Man in a Red Cap," staring out from behind the church. This simple painting was inspired by a book of rennaisance art I was reading, part of which ended up in this collage. Sometimes it's difficult to understand why we make a certain painting in a certain way. For this one, I wanted to let the oil sticks speak for themselves a bit, in a gestural way. Ready to hang.
