Acrylic & collage, on wood board

2024

***

Two-sided piece, on wood. Using scraps of paper I found on the ground in Italy. One side represents Rome, the other side Sicily. The quote about the herds of the sun refers to a passage in the Odyssey, in which Odysseus and his men land on Sicily. It is the earliest-known mention of Sicily in literature, coming in the 7th or 8th century B.C. For anyone interested in history, Italy is a feast. But I also love juxtaposing that long history with something modern , loo Ike the lottery tickets. Ready to hang. Buyer is responsible for additional shipping costs.
